Visa
As Austria is part of the European Union and the Schengen Area, special Visa regulations apply. However, due to the global pandemic, these rules were adopted by the government.
Nationals of the following countries do NOT require a visa to enter Austria:
Nationals of EU member states, the European Economic Area (EEA), Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Holy See, Honduras, Hong Kong (SAR passport), Israel, Japan, Kiribati, Macao (SAR passport), Malaysia, Marshall Island, Mauritius, North Macedonia, Mexico, Micronesia, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Palau, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Solomon Islands, Samoa, San Marino, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Korea, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Switzerland, Taiwan, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Vanatu and Venezuela.
All other Nationals do require a visa to enter Austria and IAESTE Austria has made the necessary arrangement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for issuing visas. An individual invitation letter will be provided for each participant, for your visa application you will have to pay EUR 80 at the Austrian Embassy or Consulate. This website does list the required documents you need to bring to the embassy. In the registration form you will be asked to provide us with the information at which embassy you will apply for your visa, this information is requested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in advance.
The Republic of Austria does not hold a representation in every country, a list where the Republic of Austria is represented by a Schengen partner is provided by the Austrian government. Please note, that the decision of granting your Schengen Visa is then up to the representing partner and the Austrian government cannot influence that decision, though our Ministry of Foreign Affairs will inform the representation about your application in advance.
It is essential, that any participant who does require a visa, is pre-registered by the National Secretary latest by 15 October 2021, to ensure enough time for providing the necessary documents and does STRICTLY follow the outlined procedure.
Participants who do require a visa and register after that deadline or do not follow the procedure, can not be ensured to receive their visa.
Any Participant who is following the deadlines and visa instructions and still would not get granted the visa by 15 January 2022, is entitled for a 100% refund of the conference fee.
